Saturday + Sunday Morning 8u30
Mysore Classes

All levels welcome.

These classes are for the beginner and advanced practitioner alike. In this format of practicing Ashtanga yoga, each student moves through one of Ashtanga’s sequences at their own pace and in a way that uniquely works for them. Regardless of where you are on your journey, Monica will support you in the room and hold a safe space for the practice to unfold, give hands on or verbal adjustments, and explore pose variations and modifications where appropriate- all to help you experience a practice that serves your intentions, individual needs and everything present for you each day. Mysore style is a personal and intimate path towards cultivating yoga within.
Just as music without proper pitch and rhythm will not give happiness,
yoga asana without the observance of vinyasa will not give health.” – Srivatsa Ramaswama
Saturday Afternoon , 12u-14u

All levels welcome.

This workshop will explore the foundations, movement mechanics, internal form and breathing patterns to create more space for gently deepening into backbends. Rather than forcing movements from the outside, we will turn inwards towards the multi layered experience of moving the body, breath, and mind into these shapes. With curious minds, we will discover how backbends allow us to experience a new level of awareness and calm.

This workshop is for all levels, variations will be offered to support your journey. We will look at postures such as Upward Facing Dog, Ustrasana, Kapotasana, Urdhva Danurasana as well as any requests.

Sunday Afternoon, 12-14u

Inversions + Arm Balances

All levels welcome .

In this workshop, we will take a close look at the foundations for stability in fundamental yoga postures. By understanding the movement mechanics and learning to use our energy efficiently we will begin to work towards the possibility of balancing on our hands and going upside down. You will learn the physical and mental skills needed to hold these forms by safely approaching your edge. By the end of this workshop, you will know how to identify your unique obstacles and how to integrate new patterns into your daily practice to move past them and onto your hands.

About Monica

Monica Arellano is a student of Ashtanga Yoga and meditation practices. She began teaching after receiving the formal blessing from her teacher R. Sharath Jois in Mysore, India. She first connected to the practice of yoga in 2010, looking for a more peaceful way of being. Monica completed a 2 year apprenticeship program at Miami Life Center in 2018 under Kino MacGregor. More recently she completed a yearlong philosophy immersion with Ty Landrum and a month long teacher’s intensive with Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor. Monica is also the Programming Director for Omstars, an online yoga channel and community founded by Kino MacGregor. Being a student on a spiritual journey is a never ending process that keeps her connected to herself and the source which fuels her teaching. Monica’s classes emphasize the breath, internal form, and self-exploration; in hopes of feeling into the experience of yoga and giving space for sincere expression according to each student’s unique body and mind. Through sincere practice, she believes we can deconstruct unhealthy patterns, facilitate healing on many levels, and find our way back to the most honest version of ourselves.
